Anime fans who enjoy the great outdoors are starting 2025 in one of the most exciting ways possible with the announcement of Yuudai Debata’s Futari Solo Camp (Solo Camping for Two) getting an anime adaptation. Produced by Pony Cannon, the production company has released a teaser trailer, promo video, and the main cast and staff details for the much-anticipated adaptation. The anime series will premiere on Tokyo MX during the 2025 Summer Anime season. SynergySP will handle the animation for the series. As of now, the Western streaming service for simulcasting has yet to be revealed.
Futari Solo Camp Details:
The Futari Solo Camp manga series currently consists of 19 Kodansha-published volumes. First serialized in October 2018 in Evening Magazine, the manga follows Gen Kinokura, a 34-year-old solo camper whose love for nature began with regular outings with his father before his passing. Over time, Gen grows into a skilled solo camper, finding solace in the outdoors, which becomes a form of therapy for his socially awkward nature.
On one of his camping trips, Gen encounters Shizuku Kusano, a half-naked and lost girl who forces him into letting her camp with him. Despite Gen’s reluctance, he agrees to her demands, and thus begins an odd "solo" camping duo between the two.
The anime adaptation will be directed by Jun Hatori (known for Too Cute Crisis). The role of Gen Kinokura will be voiced by Daiki Hamano (famous for Noor in I Parry Everything), while the character of Shizuku Kusano will be voiced by newcomer Mizuki Niizaki. The additional voice cast includes:
- Aya Satsuki — Series Composition
- Aya Satsuki, Mitsuho Seta, Ouka Tanizaki — Script
- Hiroyuki Hasegawa — Art Director
- Tomomi Shaimazaki — Character Design
- Daiki Yamaki — Sound Director
Live-Action Adaptation:
In addition to the anime, a live-action adaptation of Futari Solo Camp will also premiere on January 9, 2025, via Tokyo MX. With the anime's release on the horizon, this multimedia project is set to captivate fans with its unique take on the solo camping genre. Whether you’re an anime enthusiast or someone looking to try out solo camping inspired by the show, be prepared for an increase in your outdoor gear expenses. Popular camping gear brands like Gregory Mountain Products, MSR, and Osprey — all featured in Futari Solo Camp — may cause some serious damage to your savings if you get inspired by the series.
