The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Unveils the Official Trailer

Ahead of its December 11 (December 13 in the US) worldwide release, the first trailer for the film Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim was unveiled. Under Kenji Kamiyama's direction, Sola Entertainment is animating the most recent entry in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series.

The soundtrack is being composed by Stephen Gallagher. The story was written by Phillipa Boyens, Will Matthews, and Jeffrey Addis. For the screenplay, Addis and Matthews were joined by Arty Papageorgiou and Phoebe Gittins. Fran Walsh, Sam Register, Carolyn Blackwood, Toby Emmerich, Peter Jackson (director of the original trilogy), and Peter Jackson are the executive producers. The following actors play English and Japanese roles in the film:

  • Gaia Wise / Fuka Koshiba as Hèra
  • Brian Cox / Masachika Ichimura as Helm Hammerhand
  • Miranda Otto / Takako Honda as Eowyn
  • Laurence Ubong Williams / Hayato Taya as Fréaláf Hildeson
  • Luke Pasqualino / Kenjiro Tsuda as Wulf
  • Shaun Dooley as Freca
  • Manabu Muraji as Wrot

This year's New York Comic-Con will feature the film adaptation of The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. Additionally, a Japanese translation of the trailer surfaced:

In the first three Lord of the Rings films, Miranda Otto portrayed Eowyn. She will not be playing the same part twice; rather, she will be narrating The War of the Rohirrim, which takes place about 180 years before The Hobbit series.

The narrative of the legendary ancient monarch of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, after whom the fortress of Helm's Deep is named, is told in Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. The Blade Runner: Black Lotus series, which is also based on a classic book, was animated by Sola Digital Arts.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series on Amazon, which debuted in 2022, is unrelated to the War of the Rohirrim film.

The film was first revealed in 2021. The movie's US premiere is scheduled for December 13 at the Annecy International Film Festival, where the first look was held. This is the official synopsis:

Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy of films, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” tells the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. A sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornbur—a mighty fortress that will later come to be known as Helm’s Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction.
