The anime film Project Sekai: Kowareta Sekai to Utaenai Miku (Project Sekai: The Broken World and Miku Who Can't Sing) has been set for release in Japan on January 17, 2025. The director of the animation, Hiroyuki Hata, will oversee Studio P.A. Works. Along with a "new" Hatsune Miku that isn't in the game, it will include an original plot.
A "new" Hatsune Miku—who hasn't shown up in the game—will debut in the Project Sekai movie, where she will interact with and develop alongside other Project Sekai characters. It's said to be an entirely original piece of work.
The official plot summary of Project Sekai: Kowareta Sekai to Utaenai Miku, starring Hatsune Miku:
At a CD shop, Ichika Hoshino hears a song that she doesn't know by Miku. She blurts out, "Miku!" when she spots a version of Hatsune Miku on the television that she is unfamiliar with. Miku looks up at Ichika, startled, but she quickly looks away.
Later, following a street performance, Ichika sees Miku again on his phone, appearing deserted. Ichika discovers from Miku's story that despite her best efforts, Miku is unable to communicate her desire to reach others through her song.
Miku aspires to learn from Ichika after witnessing her win many hearts with her live performances. Ichika replies with a smile, "If I'm good enough," and a new Hatsune Miku narrative is launched.
