A new key image and video for the upcoming Mononoke the Movie: Karakasa were unveiled earlier today. The film is being animated by Studio EOTA, and its release date is July 24.
Takahiro Sakurai will be replaced in Mononoke the Movie: Karakasa by Hiroshi Kamiya in the main role of the Medicine Seller. "Lovesick," the theme song, is being performed by Aina The End.
Toei Animation first developed Mononoke as a TV animation. There were 12 episodes in total when it debuted on Fuji TV's Noitamina TV block in July–September 2007.The screenplay for the anime was written by Ikuko Takahashi (episodes 1-2, 10-11), Chiaki Konaka (episodes 3-5, 8-9), Manabu Ishikawa (episodes 6-7), and Michiko Yokote (episode 12). The animation was directed by Kenji Nakamura (Gatchaman Crowds Insight). Takashi Hashimoto oversaw the production as both the chief animator and character designer. The soundtrack was composed by Yasuharu Takanashi. The tale is a spin-off of the 2006 anime series Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales, which was also created by Toei Animation. Numerous manga adaptations of the story have been released over the years.
