Anime Adaptation of Laid-Back Camp Author Afro's Mono Manga

An anime adaptation of the Laid-Back Camp manga written by Afro is in the works. The primary staff details were also disclosed, along with a teaser image and video. The narrative, which centres on the experiences of high school ladies involved in the Cinephoto Club—a club that combines photography and film—takes place in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture.

Under the leadership of Ryota Aikei (associate director of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2), Aniplex is developing the anime at studio Soigne. Takuya Miyahara (Frederica opening movie, Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie co-main animator) is creating the character designs, while Yoko Yonaiyama (A Sign of Affection) is penning the screenplay. The teaser video features the voices of the anime's voice actors, who have not yet been revealed. The animation production firm is called Soigne. It was established in June 2023 and previously worked on the music video for VSPO!'s April opening song, "Hikarunaru," which is a cover of Your Lie. The president of Soigne assisted with several episodes of Encouragement of Climb: Third Season and Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit as a production assistant.

In March 2017, Afro released the four-panel comic in Houbunsha's comic Time Kirara Carat. The manga centres on high school girls who participate in the film and photography-focused "cinephoto" club. The manga's third collected book volume was released by Houbunsha in October 2022, and the fourth volume will be released on April 25.

Launched in 2015 in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine, Afro's Laid-Back Camp manga was later moved to the Comic Fuz manga website in 2019. In March 2018, Yen Press started publishing the comic in English.

In May 2017, the manga was first serialised in the magazine Manga Time Kirara Miracle! published by Houbunsha. The series was then moved to the Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine in December of the same year following the publication of the last issue of the aforementioned magazine. There are presently three volumes of the series available, and on April 25th, the fourth volume is scheduled for release.

For the announcement of the anime adaptation, Afro also created a commemorative illustration.

The manga was adapted into an anime series, which debuted in January 2018 and was streamed live on Crunchyroll for a total of 12 episodes. There was also an English dub of the first season available on Crunchyroll. In January 2021, the anime's second season debuted.
