Once Upon a Witch's Death Unveils New Image, Miharu Hanai and Aina Suzuki Join Cast

Aina Suzuki and Miharu Hanai, two more cast members, were unveiled along with a new image for the upcoming anime Once Upon a Witch's Death. In 2025, the anime is scheduled to debut.

Atsushi Nigorikawa is directing the animation at Studio EMT Squared. While Yukishizuku is in charge of modifying Chorefuji's character designs, Keiichiro Ochi is composing the script. The previously revealed major cast consists of:

  • Yoshino Aoyama as Meg Raspberry
  • Yoshiko Sakakibara as Faust

October 2019 marked the start of Saka's novel on the Kakuyomu website, and it ended in August 2022. The print version, with artwork by Chorefuji, is published by Kadokawa. Kenu Amearare has also adapted the manga.

The Once Upon a Witch's Death: The Story of the One Thousand Tears of Joy book was licensed in English by Yen Press, and they explain the story as follows:

On Meg’s seventeenth birthday, she learns that she only has one year left to live. Her mentor—the Eternal Witch, Faust—explains that she is cursed and the only way to save herself is to grow a seed of life using one thousand tears of joy. Of course, such tears aren’t easy to come by. As Meg begins her quest, she finds herself drawn into the lives of her friends and neighbors in ways she never imagined. By sharing their burdens and using her magic to comfort them, she learns how precious those moments of connection can be even in the face of death.
