Who is Mio Takamiya in Date A Live Season 5

 Mio Takamiya:

A mystery woman named Mio Takamiya (崇宮 捪, Takamiya Mio?) is linked to the pasts of both Shido and Mana. Because she is the source from whence other Spirits originate, she is often referred to as the Spirit of Origin (始原の粍霊, Shigen no Seirei?).

Summary

The first Spirit to emerge on Earth was known as the First Spirit. She was brought into the earth 30 years prior to the events of Date A Live by Elliot Baldwin Woodman, Ellen Mira Mathers, and Sir Isaac Ray Pelham Westcott using the Spirit Formula, which concentrated all of the mana in the universe into one location. But somewhere around the border between China and Mongolia, at some time during her birth, the planet experienced its first-ever spacequake, which killed over 150 million people and set off a sequence of comparable calamities that would recur for almost six months.

Due to the knowledge Nia Honjo possesses regarding the First Spirit, Kurumi Tokisaki has been pursuing her for a significant portion of the series. Kurumi asked Nia, through her Angel <Rasiel>, for information regarding the First Spirit's appearance, purpose, and strength when they ultimately met during Nia Creation.

Appearance

Just as Mana's memories began to click like a shutter on a camera, she managed to glimpse Mio's look and described her as a long-haired girl. But since Mio can change shape, her look is always changing. <Phantom> looks exactly like her clone Reine Murasame when Kurumi reveals her mosaic. But when she emerges from Kurumi's shadow, she takes on the same appearance—that of a somewhat younger Reine—that she had when she first met Shinji thirty years prior.

To disperse the Sephira more effectively in the modern era, Mio frequently posed as an intricate mosaic. She is dressed in an exquisitely detailed Astral Dress that is the same translucent colour as water droplets. Her hair and breasts are adorned with floral decorations that resemble cherry blossoms and are composed of an enigmatic light-based material. Her body, shoulders, and neck are all covered in gold jewellery, the last of which is what secures her teddy bear. Mio is likewise barefoot in this condition. It is said that her Astral Dress radiates a light that resembles the Northern Lights. Ten stars are buried in a warped halo behind her. A corresponding star would glow in the same colour as the Sephira Crystal that Mio had reclaimed each time. Her measurements are B89, W60, and H87.

Personality

Mio had the mindset of a baby when she initially entered our planet. But thanks to her varied exposure to diverse media, she picks up intelligence and self-awareness at an incredible rate very quickly. She gained important understanding of the idea of love from her relationship with Shinji as well. But after Westcott shoots Shinji, Mio becomes incredibly driven and even cruel, eager to sacrifice a great number of people in order to purify the Sephira Crystals in order to fulfil her desire to give Shinji her powers.

Her morality hasn't entirely vanished, though. Despite being a total stranger at the moment, she voluntarily saved Kurumi, and after telling Kurumi the reality about Spirits, she sincerely apologised to her. Furthermore, by the time she joined Kurumi in her pursuit for Spirits, Mio was described as having a very depressing attitude and a forlorn expression on her face.

Mio, who sees the Spirits as her daughters, is even willing to sacrifice them and even destroy Shido's identity in her quest to bring Shinji back. She does, however, freely admit the selfishness of her behaviour. She claims that she is too emotionally fragile to cope with Shinji's passing yet too physically powerful to kill herself. She knew deep down that Shido would never be able to fully replace Shinji, and all she wanted was to produce someone strong enough to end her suffering. Mio accepts this and becomes resolved to save her surviving loved ones at any cost, including her own life.

Background

On Christmas Day, Sir Isaac Ray Pelham Westcott, Elliot Baldwin Woodman, and Ellen Mira Mathers utilised the <Spirit Formula> to collect all of the mana in the globe in one place, giving birth to the First Spirit. But her birth also brought forth the first Spacequake, which obliterated a large portion of Eurasia. Following her birth, the First Spirit alternated constantly between this world and a new one that she helped to construct. A few months after her birth, the world was destroyed by lesser Spacequakes that would occur every time she appeared in it.

A kid by the name of Shinji Takamiya found her during the wake of the South Kanto Sky Disaster (南関東大空災, Nankanto Daikuusai?).[5] Giving the girl his jacket, the boy made the decision to take her home with him. When Shinji's sister Mana arrived in his room, she wanted to know why her brother was with a girl who was only partially clothed. As Shinji attempted to clarify the circumstances, the First Spirit suddenly sneezed. As Mana was about to leave the room to grab her new clothes, she used her abilities to replicate Mana's school uniform to create her own clothing. The First Spirit rapidly began to learn about the outside world while residing with Shinji and Mana, including reading books, listening to the radio, watching TV, and listening to cassettes. She consequently rapidly advanced from having a baby's vocabulary to being able to speak Japanese fluently. Shinji made the decision to call her Mio Takamiya. Mio sobbed because she was so happy to hear this name.

When Shinji took Mio on a tour of the town, he told her about everything that piqued her interest. They proceeded to an arcade where Shinji won a crane game and won her a teddy bear. This is also when Mio boldly admitted that she liked Shinji after he told her about the "like" emotion. Their bond became stronger over time. When Mio caught Shinji practising asking her out on a date, she answered honestly, "Yes." Mana and Mio had also gotten close around this time. When Mio once dropped by Shinji's school to give something he had forgotten, her attractiveness incited a furor among Shinji's peers. Shinji brought Mio out on a boat for their date. That's where Mio once again expressed her love for Shinji.

But eventually, Mio had to flee with Shinji after DEM found out where she was. Woodman materialised in front of them as they were rushing, obstructing their way. He did, however, let them passage after learning that Mio was content with Shinji's company. In spite of this, Westcott soon confronted them and admitted to having kidnapped Mana, saying he would trade her for Mio. When Shinji attempted to flee with Mio, Westcott pulled a revolver and shot him in the chest. But Mio's powers manifested in a fit of wrath as a result, and she and Shinji were able to flee. She used her talents to cure Shinji's wounds after making her escape. But whatever she did, he would never come back to awareness.since her powers couldn't truly bring back the dead. This caused Mio to cry, finally realizing how much Shinji meant to her.

Mio struggled for a while before coming up with a strategy to save Shinji. After that, she kissed him, turning him into light and absorbing him into herself. She intended to resurrect Shinji by carrying him inside her and giving birth to him. Then she would give him her authority and he would be her lifelong partner. Mio only gave Shinji the capacity to absorb a Spirit's strength because a typical human's body is too weak to take in all of her power at once. She then separated her powers, so that Shinji could progressively inherit each girl's power one by one. She did this by sowing her powers in young females like seeds. But humans were incompatible. With the Qlipha Crystals she created, causing them to turn into monsters and go berserk. Therefore, Mio decided to reverse their properties, turning them into Sephira Crystals to make them more compatible. To do so, Mio continuously had the Qlipha Crystals bond with humans, turn them into monsters, and finally kill them in order to slowly purify them. Around this time, Mio successfully gave birth to Shinji and left him to be adopted by the Itsuka family.

Mio finally became irritated with the length of time and sacrifices required for the Sephira Crystals' purification. So, she made the decision to resume her experiments in the hopes of immediately producing fully realised Sephira Crystals and skipping the entire purification procedure. Mio had to put her own feeling into a Sephira in order to make one. She chose to employ love, the feeling that motivates her the most, this time around because up until now, these emotions had primarily been negative (angry, sad, and regretful). Mio's bet appeared to have paid off at first because she was able to manufacture an unadulterated Sephira Crystal. To her dismay, the crystal then went on to assume human form and create a second Pure Spirit.

Mio was surprised by her creation at first, but she soon saw that this second Pure Spirit was too much of an unknown factor in her plans, and she had to get rid of it. The Spirit then called upon her Demon King, sensing her malicious intent, but Mio easily repelled her blows and bound her with <Ain Soph> before piercing her with her Astral Dress to end the fight. The Spirit was reduced to a Sephira Crystal as a result of the destruction of her physical body. Even still, Mio was aware that if she didn't destroy the Sephira, she would eventually come back to life. But Mio could not bring herself to murder the lone survivor of her kind. Rather, she decided to embrace the girl and include the unexpected Spirit into her plans, despite her previous misgivings.

She was able to defend a young Kurumi Tokisaki from an attack by one of the monsters she had made at some point. Mio pretended to be a "ally of justice" and revealed that the monster was actually a Spirit, but she omitted to mention their beginnings. Then she promised to give her one of her powers to aid in battling them. Kurumi agreed, and she gave her the Sephira Crystal that had been cleaned and contained Zafkiel. After that, Kurumi and Mio partnered up and began searching for Spirits, but Kurumi was unaware of the Spirits' beginnings. But Kurumi fled one day after murdering a Spirit, leaving Mio to handle the routine of cleaning up the body. But a few seconds later, Kurumi came back to invite Mio to her friend Sawa's house. This caused Mio to be caught in the act of removing the Qlipha Crystal from the body of the Spirit, who was revealed to be none other than Sawa. This revelation caused Kurumi to start transforming into her Inverse Form. However, much to Mio's surprise, Kurumi stopped her transformation by using her Fourth Bullet <Dalet> to reverse time and return her mental state to a moment before she started feeling overwhelmed by despair.

Mio then revealed to Kurumi that she was the First Spirit and that she intended to use human sacrifices in order to refine the Qlipha Crystals into Sephira Crystals. But when someone asked Mio what her intentions were, she paused. She said she was sorry and that she didn't mean any harm to Kurumi, but that she couldn't stop until she gave her power to those who were selected from among humanity. She ended by thanking Kurumi for all of her hard work thus far, advising her to get some sleep, and then wiping all of Kurumi's memories save for the knowledge of how to use her Angel.

Spirit form, power & the abilities of Mio Takamiya:

Mio is the original Spirit, the Spirit of Origin, and the one who created all other Spirits. Several characters have noted that she possesses such great power that she is comparable to a god. It should be mentioned that the only occasions she has been hurt were when other characters have used her own powers as a source of power. All the other Spirits in their Limited Astral Dresses and a complete airship and Wizard fleet that she alone could take down were simply defeated by her. Because Mio would be unbeatable, Nia says that her powers are cheat-level and that it would be totally unacceptable for an author to use them in a novel. Indeed, when Nia revealed her abilities to Kurumi, even the Worst Spirit had to admit that she alone will never be able to kill her.

Three Angels

Weapons: Seed, Tree, and Flower

Yah (神威霊装・零番, Yā? ; literally, "Spirit Dress of God's Authority, Number 0") is the astral attire.

Mio, in contrast to the other Spirits, is in possession of three Angels. Characters have remarked that she has power comparable to that of a god because she can destroy everything and bend reality to suit her will thanks to her angels. The other Spirits are filled with an unmatched sense of fear as she calls forth her Angels, and all of their instincts tell them not to resist her.

Ain Soph Aur

The term "Sanctuary of All Things in Creation" (渇鱡遖堂, Ain Sofu Ōru?) refers to Ain Soph Aur. Often called the Angel of Death, it's a massive flower with a statue of Mayuri embedded in the middle of its petals. After receiving the order to blossom, the flower continuously releases light particles that instantaneously destroy anybody in their path, even warships and inorganic targets like <Bandersnatch>. A protective <Territory> cannot stop the particles from passing through; they will just keep going. For those lacking a substantial quantity of Reiryoku or Maryoku, the Angel's mere presence is fatal.

Henet (蕍砀, Henetsu?, lit. "Bud Cannon"): Calls forth a tiny flower bud the size of a palm that erupts a concentrated energy beam of particles from Ain Soph Aur. Anything that comes in contact with the energy beam will instantly die regardless of any defense.

Ain Soph

鼪廻楽園, Ain Sofu?, which translates to "Samsara of Paradise": It is known as the Angel of Laws and resembles a massive tree with a statue of Rio Sonogami inserted into the trunk. [6] Its monochromatic, chessboard-like appearance is attributed to the blossoms and branches that penetrate the sky and transform the surrounding landscape around the tree. Mio is free to alter reality's laws within the area that the tree's branches and roots collectively extend. She adds that research on this capacity was the first source of the <Territory> used by the Realizer. Those who possess some of Mio's Reiryoku, however, are immune to this Angel's effects. Tohka, for example, used Mio's and the other Spirits' abilities to borrow was able to overcome <Ain Soph>'s attempts to bind her movements. The branches and roots themselves can be used to attack and restrain her opponents. When in conflict against Westcott's <Belial>, the roots and branches tangled against the Demon King's to form a birdcage. In this state, Mio was able to temporarily suppress Westcott's attempts to rewrite reality.

Anaph (枝剣, Anafu?. lit. "Branch Sword"): Manifests a branch of Ain Soph to serve as a sharpened blade.

Ain

Ain ( , Ain?): The Angel of Void, referred to as Mio's ultimate advantage. It has the ability to instantaneously bring light to the entire earth before wiping out anybody or whatever she wants from existence. It is impossible to see due to the dazzling brightness, although it is thought to resemble its Demon King counterpart, <Qemetiel>, in shape like a seed. When the Angel was first seen, it was being used to remove Tohka, who was channelling the abilities of all Spirits, including Mio. Mio regrets that, despite her desire to seal Tohka's Reiryoku within Shido, employing this Angel totally destroys it. When they clash with <Qemetiel>, the backlash that follows is sufficient to kill Westcott and Mio.

Sephira Creation

Mio was even able to divide her own power between ten Qlipha Crystals, which she later purified into Sephira Crystals by cycling them through sacrificial hosts, and bestow them onto those she had chosen within humanity. As the source of the power for every other Spirit, Mio holds a degree of authority in regulating the distribution of power between each Spirit. For example, she was able to stop Tohka from fully taking her powers back from Shido. Her Astral Dress can produce bands of light that can instantly remove the Sephira Crystal from any Spirit they pierce without causing injury. From the opposite end of the spectrum, she has also been able to empower all ten Spirits, granting them access to their full Astral Dress despite their powers still being sealed within Shido.

When creating the Sephira Crystals, Mio split off and condensed a portion of the Reiryoku. Along with her power, each Sephira Crystal was imbued with a portion of her emotions as well, with the color being determined by which particular feeling was strongest during its creation. Strong negative emotions like sadness, anger, and regret will strengthen the resulting Crystal, but such feelings also make it more difficult to purify. When a strong emotion like love was imbued into a Crystal, it produced a pure Spirit like herself. However, Mio herself notes that her power is finite and there was a limit to the number of Sephira she could end up creating. Because the Sephira Crystals are intrinsically linked to her existence, they will also disappear after she dies.

Mio's own Sephira Crystal has an immune system that regards any wielder besides herself as a pathogen. Even Tohka, a pure Spirit who could be considered Mio's daughter, is not fully compatible. The immune system takes the form of a gigantic copy of Mio with angelic wings, which has a robotic mind simply devoted to the "pathogen's" elimination. It is as powerful as Mio, and can only be truly harmed by other beings on Mio's level, quickly regenerating from ordinary Angel attacks. It can only be truly destroyed when its human-sized core is annihilated, but doing so is equivalent to destroying Mio's Crystal.

Miscellaneous Abilities

Being the originator of all the other Spirits, Mio has shown abilities that are strikingly similar to theirs. Similar to Origami, she can fire lasers of shining light, control the direction of the beams, and teleport. Similar to Kurumi, she can even create an exact clone of herself that serves to help break down tasks. Finally, she has shown to have the Spirits' common ability of flight and create an Astral Dress. Her Astral Dress' defenses are strong enough to stop attacks before they even touch her. In fact, Tohka was only able to pierce it after she drew power from all of the other Spirits, including Mio herself.

Mio also has some abilities that seem to be wholly unique to herself. She can manipulate memories, whether by sealing them to obscure encounters with her alter ego Phantom, or restoring them as she did with Shido and Mana's past lives, which the former was unable to properly do to himself even with <Michael>. She can heal another person's injuries through her Reiryoku. Conversely, she has also applied this ability to herself, instantly recovering from the damage received from Tohka with a wave of her hand. However, her ability to heal only works on alleviating injuries sustained. Just like with Kurumi's Fourth Bullet Dalet, lives that have already been lost cannot be restored.

When disguising herself as Phantom to distribute Sephira Crystals, Mio can conceal her appearance with mosaics that also alters her voice. The mosaic disguise itself can serve as a barrier to defend herself from attacks. To wit, is durable enough to withstand concentrated energy beam from <Metatron> and a gatling barrage of bullets from Kurumi before dissipating.

However, perhaps Mio's most unique ability is to resurrect a person by impregnating herself with them. By kissing a deceased individual, Mio can absorb that person into herself and place them in her womb. Afterwards she can give birth, effectively reviving the deceased person as a newborn infant. While undergoing this process, Mio is also able to grant the person she is reviving certain powers. For Shido, Mio bestowed him the power to seal Spirits in order to gradually accumulate power.

Aside from all of her abilities as a Spirit, Mio has also displayed an otherworldly level of intelligence. While her vocabulary was initially at the level of an infant, she was able to learn how to fluently speak Japanese in an unbelievably short amount of time through exposure to various forms of media.
