Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba revealed the first key visual for the upcoming season 2. Season 2 will air later this year and directly follow the events of the Mugen Train movie.
The information was revealed during a special program was broadcast on Ameba TV and Aniplex’s YouTube channel. Voice actors in the anime, Hanae Natsuki (Tanjiro) and Konishi Katsuyuki (Tengen) were guests during the program. Season 2 will cover the Entertainment District Arc, and give us a closer look at the Sound Hashira, Tengen.
Studio ufotable is animating season 2 of the highly popular anime, after having animated the first one, as well as the Mugen Train movie. Staff is also returning. Haruo Sotozaki is directing, while Akira Matsushima is on character designs.
In addition to the key visual and PV for it, the stream revealed information about the upcoming special screening of Mugen Train movie. The special screening event will last from 22nd to 27th July in Japan, and viewers will receive a special promotional card, which features the Fire Hashira. The movie is also premiering on Japanese TV stations for the first time on September 25th.
Fans who missed Demon Slayer orchestra event, held in November 2020, will be able to buy an album recorded during the event. The special edition of the album also comes with a BluRay disc, which features the actual recording of the performance.
Demon Slayer manga, by Koyoharu Gotouge, finished its 4-year long run last year, after 205 chapters. The first season of the anime aired in 2019 and had 26 episodes. The sequel movie came out in 2020 and became one of the Highest-Grossing Japanese Movies worldwide. BluRay and DVD release sold over 486 thousand copies in under 24 hours.
Funimation licensed the anime series and describes the plot as:
Bloodthirsty
demons lurk in the woods, and nobody dares to venture out at night,
save for the demon slayer of legend. Surviving in this harsh world,
young Tanjirou takes it upon himself to protect his family–until the day
that everything is taken from him in a vicious slaughter. Now, all he
has left is his sister, and she’s not even human anymore.
